All our Beginning and Intermediate courses meet for 12 weeks, two times a week. Each class is 75 minutes. There are 30 hours of class time in each course, at $35 an hour. Price for the 12-week course - $1,050.

Beginning Russian I
If you don't know any Russian, or know several words, this course is for you. You will learn: - the Russian alphabet - basic vocabulary: 300-500 words - to read and write in Russian - basic Russian grammar: cases and tenses After completing the course, you will be able to: - exchange greetings and introductions - talk about hobbies, interests, and daily activities - describe people, places, and things - ask and answer questions on familiar topics - write notes and short letters relating to things you know |
Beginning Russian II This course is for you if you completed one semester of Russian in college or equivalent. You will learn: - more vocabulary: 300 to 500 more words - how to use Russian cases, verbal aspect, and verbs of motion After completing the course, you will be able to: - tell simple stories about past events - discuss plans for the future - discuss people’s character and appearance - express you feelings about a topic - read fiction and poetry adapted for the beginning level |
Intermediate Russian I
This course is for you if you completed one year of Russian language study in college or equivalent. You will learn: - how to use subjunctive mood - how to use verbs of motion with prefixes - how to form and use imperatives - how to use constructions with short adjectives and adverbs After completing the course, you will be able to: - talk about relationships between people - compare people's appearance and personalities - give advice and formulate requests - tell stories using correct time expressions - express opinions about events and people |
Intermediate Russian II
This course is for you if you are comfortable performing functions described in Intermediate Russian I. You will learn: - how to use transitive verbs of motion - how to use conjunctions to connect sentences - how to use reflexive verbs effectively After completing the course, you will be able to: - compare different beliefs and traditions - complain about household and personal problems - discuss difficult situations and offer resolutions - talk about your plans and dreams for the future - interpret ideas in fiction, poetry, and film - read and talk about current events |
